Q:  Has the District made any proposals around Extra Duty Pay?
A:  Certificated administrators are salaried management, and are not eligible for overtime pay. However, the District and AALA/Teamsters 2010 have reached agreement on language to expand opportunities for supplemental PD Assignments (Professional Development Sideletter), recognize the additional responsibilities of Priority Schools Principals (Priority Schools Principals Sideletter), reduce “red tape” around the process for receiving pay for supplemental assignments (Winter Recess Academy and Summer School Sideletter), and clarify and strengthen language related to supplemental pay (Article X).  The District has also proposed additional pay for principals at single administrator sites of 275 or more students (Single Administrator Site Proposal).

Q:  What is the status of LAUSD and AALA/Teamsters 2010 Negotiations?

A:  On March 30th, AALA/Teamsters 2010 provided 10 days notice of termination of the contract, which would allow for a strike on or after April 10th. On April 6th, the District met with AALA/Teamsters 2010 and increased our compensation offer from 8% to 10%.

While we are disappointed that our administrators might choose to go on strike after receiving fully-funded healthcare, and with proposed:

    • 10% raises for all administrators
    • additional pay for Elementary APs & APEIS
    • additional pay for Principals at Priority Schools and single administrator sites
    • increased ability to use flex-time
    • new language on hours of work and supplemental pay

We continue to believe that the parties can reach an agreement that honors the dedication and leadership our administrators show our students, families and employees.
